ENTREPRENEUR Jojo Ong is poised to undertake a new venture in Cebu, TG Universal, the latest player to venture into the local real estate industry.
The new company will be launched this Friday, Feb. 5 at the TG Tower in Asiatown IT Park, the biggest commercial building in Cebu in terms of gross floor area, a press statement said.
Ong is banking on “more than 50 years of tested business experience and solid relationships.” The family started by trading commodities and has stayed the longest in locally consolidating scrap metal and exporting to some of the biggest steel companies in Southeast Asia. They have since branched out to other businesses, including fuel, construction and commercial real estate.
“Based on our company’s experience, we have learned that there is no compromise on meeting customer requirements,” said Charles Vincent Ong, a mechanical engineer and Jojo’s eldest son as well as chief operating officer.
Their commercial real estate projects include the Ong Tiak Building along General Maxilom Ave. and the Synergies Building, occupied by Sykes, in Barangay Mabolo.
The global finance shared services center of the multi-national company Bombardier Transportation has chosen TG Tower as its base, selected over 62 other cities around the globe.
Bombardier general manager and director for finance, accounting and reporting Heiko Kafer explained that only this building met their complex requirements.
“Their commitment to excellence and service is seen from the senior management to all the employees. Based on our expectations, they even over-delivered,” Kafer said.
Levi Villanueva Sr., vice president of Union Bank Philippines, said one of the company’s advantages is the insight to build strategically located properties.
“This is the third branch we have located in with the group of Jojo Ong, and we have always enjoyed doing business with them because they are very professional and easy to deal with,” he said.
