Check out GenerationRescue. All the info about Autism is relevant to ADD/ADHD. They symptoms of ADD/ADHD and Autism are different, but the causes are the same.

I think the question ” do you frequently zone out?” is something that almost every person can attest to and on a regular basis too. It’s a blanket question. I think before you start promoting these medications, you should look into the lives they have actually ruined. Children everywhere are being drugged for these “illnesses”. Im glad you have found a solution for your problems but there are healthier, non-medicated ways to treat ADD and ADHD.

@Omegatide yeah dude

lmao ritalin didn’t work cause you don’t have ADD, thats also why the first doctor told you that you don’t have it. I also popped adderall and got focused it’s not uncommon

stoavio February 7, 2010 at 5:42 pm

Thanks for the comparison. I’m taking the generic equivalent of Ritalin right now (as you were). 1 20MG ER tablet in the morning and another 20MG IR tablet (that I cut in half and take at different times) later in the day.

The Ritalin does improve my focus but it also flattens out my personality, just like you described. Also, the positive effects are fleeting and I experience an undesirable increase and then decrease in my emotions which makes me feel kind of cruddy/dirty.

@DefeatADDnow I got GNC brand L-Tyrosine and it doesn’t seem to do much. I had gotten it after I noticed certain energy drinks containing L-Tyrosine helped my ADD a little bit. I understand that brands can make a difference. It took me a while to find a Valerian Root supplement that actually worked.

If you have silver fillings in your teeth that contain mercury get them out with a dentist who is a part of IAOMT and knows the dangers of those fillings. Those fillings will make your ADD worse and worse.

Tyrosine 1000 mg twice a day will wake you up. Now Foods is another good brand that makes tyrosine. I tried two crap brands for tyrosine and it did absolutely nothing. Thats why Im emphasizing good brands.

@DefeatADDnow Well another major issue I have just isn’t memory… When I try to concentrate on anything that requires a lot of mental effort (such as math) I get overwhelmingly sleepy. This goes along with the Inattentive ADD symptoms list. Got any supplements I could try for that?

Omegatide February 7, 2010 at 8:07 pm

Your on drugs. Your a drug addict.
“I was waiting for it to hit”
You seem like a sweatheart but i’m going to get ruthless. You are very ignorant to be taking the advise of others who profit off your lack of education of your symtoms.
Your taking a huge risk trusting big pharma with your life. But hey as long as your peers think your doing great, as long as it appears to your family your doing swell, Good Luck pleasing everyone!!!
P.S. Do you think taking this drug in school is cheating?

DefeatADDnow February 7, 2010 at 8:13 pm

I’ve tried a bunch of different brands and some of them are useless, but the ones I’ve mentioned are very effective. The source naturals one is a higher dose. You need to to take it twice a day. The famous Dr. Daniel Amen uses it on patients of his that have memory issues.

DefeatADDnow February 7, 2010 at 8:40 pm

Acetyl choline is a chemical that increases memory. Their is something called Huperzine A that increases acetyl choline. Source naturals has a product called Huperzina A and Solaray has a product called Hup A.

I was on Adderall, but my tolerance became so high that I was either going to have serious heart problems and better focus, or a functioning heart but poor focus.

XeonProductions February 7, 2010 at 9:16 pm

@DefeatADDnow Yeah… horrible working memory, losing everything, losing track of time, forgetting things, remembering absolutely pointless crap… I could go on forever…

Tanks for sharing! You’re my case ^^

DefeatADDnow February 7, 2010 at 10:04 pm

You’re comment is true about the majority of people who say they have ADD, but their are some people who actually have it. If you knew anything about it and payed attention to the video you would have noticed that she has major memory issues. ADD is a bullshit term because their are many other symptoms.

DefeatADDnow February 7, 2010 at 10:34 pm

The dosage for tyrosine is 1,000 mg twice a day.

DefeatADDnow February 7, 2010 at 11:08 pm

Dr. Daniel Amen has shown with brain scan images that tyrosine is very effective. Most doctors aren’t gonna let you know about the long term consequences and their are alot of people like me who are now suffering.

DefeatADDnow February 7, 2010 at 11:26 pm

You could replace adderall with tyrosine which is very safe You can get it otc. Use a good brand like Now Foods or Source Naturals. The brand you use makes a huge difference.

DefeatADDnow February 8, 2010 at 12:15 am

I took adderall for years and now I’m suffering from severe health problems. At the beginning I thought adderall was awesome, but I had no idea how badly it can damage your health..

Fjaertorslovaark February 8, 2010 at 1:09 am

Hi Ari. I’m assuming that you are primarily inattentive type ADD (“space cadet/day dreamer”)? Do you find that the Adderall inhibits your natural creativity? In my mind it’s a trade off: motivation and focus tend to push aside intuition and ideas. But – in order to spring to life, an idea needs a push from motivation/focus.

That could be why I am able to retain information when I tap my feet constantly.

Inmate527 February 8, 2010 at 2:05 am

Thats me right there. I lack interest too. Thats why I lack the ability to follow short term goals and the ability to pay attention to things that I am not interest in. Although I am able to pay attention to fun activites like video games, I lack the ability to think things through because my mind is usually thinking about video games and something else at the same time.
